    5 Tips for Baking Perfect Cupcakes

    With National Cupcake Week approaching, what better way to celebrate than with a wonderful baking experience in your home? With that in mind, here are my top 5 tips for making the world's tastiest cupcakes.

    1. Choose a good recipe

    Use the internet or the cupcake book of your choice (a must-have for all home bakers), my favorite book is from Magnolia Bakery in New York.

    Look for recipes that interest you, usually you will find at least 1 that really interests you.

    The basic recipe for making 12 cupcakes is:

    • 125 grams of butter
    • 125g of caster sugar
    • 125g self-grown flour
    • pinch of salt
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 tablespoons of milk

    2. Refine the mixture

    A decent mixer can take a lot of the hassle out of cream making or mixing your cake mix, it can be a great investment if you are a regular baker.

    You can also use it for any large batch you need to make (I do this to fill large orders).

    When food processors and kitchen machines test well-known comparison magazines, each machine is tested to see how well the dough mixes, including variables such as speed, how evenly it is blended, the volume of the cake increases during baking.

    3. Use good cooking utensils

    One of the most overlooked factors in making great cupcakes is the oven in which to bake. You will get best results in a decent oven where the temperature is evenly distributed.

    Otherwise, some of your batch may burn while others are left sticky and uncooked (trust me, I learned this from experience).

    Choosing a good oven is important, to test your oven you can bake a few slices of bread scattered around your oven to test the heat distribution along with a large sponge cake to test how well the cake will expand (in terms of how rose and chocolatey.). You will know if you have a good oven if your cake is perfectly shaped and browned.

    4. Decoration

    The biggest factor in the quality of your cupcakes is the décor, a good decoration can change the overall shape and perspective of your cake. Try to make it look pretty but appearance completely out of taste. Nothing is more disappointing than seeing people eat your cake and scrape off your icing.

    5. Cupcake maker

    You can find a good cupcake maker (similar to a waffle maker). Your common cupcake will make dozens of cupcakes.

    They're easy to use, most don't even have a button, just plug them in and pour into your mixture, then the machine will bake them (almost to perfection).

    They will take about 10 minutes to bake your cake and most people won't even notice that they are not baked at home.

    I have tried several machines and they all do basically the same job. This is for the lazy cupcake maker and for the record I don't support them (off the record, they can be overwhelming).
